Why “Explosion-Proof” Quartz?
Here is the thing about standard quartz tubes: they hate cold water. If a stray droplet hits a scorching hot tube, it can shatter instantly. It’s called thermal shock, and it’s a mess. We use a specific kind of explosion-proof quartz glass. It can handle those wild temperature swings without cracking. And if the worst happens and the tube does break? The glass is designed to hold itself together rather than spraying shards across the room. Plus, these use short-wave infrared. Instead of wasting time heating up the air, the heat hits you directly. It’s fast. Really fast.
The Secret is in the Seals
You can’t just throw a plastic cover on a heater and call it a day. To actually hit that IP55 rating, you need the right gear. We use silicone gaskets and sealed cable glands to make sure everything is tight. The goal is to stop condensation from pooling on the electrical terminals. If that happens, you’ve got a short circuit on your hands. Simple as that.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
These units put out a massive amount of heat. Because the IP55 housing is built to protect the insides, the outer casing can get pretty hot to the touch. Just make sure whatever surface you mount it to can handle the heat. And for the love of everything, wire it up to a GFCI breaker. Without a proper ground, all that fancy safety glass doesn’t really matter.
