What IP66 actually means for you
In plain English? It means the unit is totally dust-tight and can handle a powerful blast of water without blinking. We use heavy-duty gaskets and sealed cable entries to keep the guts of the machine dry. But it’s not just about avoiding a short circuit. Think about a red-hot quartz tube. If a splash of ice-cold rain hits that glass, it can shatter instantly. That’s why our housing is designed to shield the tube from direct spray. It keeps the temperature steady and the glass intact.
The battle against fog
Condensation is the sneaky part. You might not see a leak, but a thin layer of fog on the reflector or the emitter tube is a disaster. It scatters the heat, meaning you’re paying for power that never actually reaches your guests. To fix this, we use specific coatings and smart airflow paths. It keeps the moisture from settling on the critical bits, so the heat actually goes where it’s supposed to.
The honest trade-off
Here’s the thing: when you seal a unit this tight to keep water out, you lose some of that natural airflow. Heat builds up inside the chassis faster than it would in a cheap, open-air heater. Because of that, you’ve got to be careful with how you mount it. If your bracket blocks the ventilation gaps, the thermal cutoff might trip during a heatwave. Just give it a little breathing room and you’re golden.
