Keeping Your Class 100 Cleanroom Actually Clean
When you’re working in a Class 100 environment, temperature is only half the battle. The real headache? Particles. Most standard IR heaters are a nightmare in these spaces. They outgas or shed tiny bits of debris every time they cycle on and off. It’s a recipe for disaster. We figured out a better way by combining high-purity quartz envelopes with some very specific, precision-machined aluminum reflectors.
Why the materials matter
We start with high-purity synthetic quartz for the lamp tube. Why? Because cheap glass flakes. It crystallizes over time and starts dropping microscopic shards right onto your work. With synthetic quartz, the thermal expansion stays uniform even when you’re cranking up the wattage. No flaking. No shedding. Just clean heat. Then there’s the aluminum reflector. We use a high-grade, polished finish to bounce that IR radiation exactly where it needs to go. It puts the heat on the workpiece and keeps the rest of your room cool. It’s just a smarter way to manage the energy.
Getting the setup right
To keep things truly clean, we stripped out everything “fluffy.” No organic glues. No cheap plastics that melt or off-gas. If a part can’t handle the heat without breaking down, it doesn’t make the cut. One thing to keep in mind: watch your airflow. The quartz is solid, but those aluminum reflectors can act like heat sinks if they’re shoved in too tight. If you crowd the lamps, you risk warping the housing. Give them some room to breathe.
Where this actually helps
If you’re in semiconductor fab or medical sterilization, you know the stress of one stray particle ruining a wafer or a sterile seal. It’s frustrating. Our setup is basically a drop-in replacement. You get the heat you need without worrying about your air filtration specs taking a hit. Just one pro tip: make sure your power supply is steady. Flickering causes thermal stress on the quartz, and we want these things to last.
